Yes, an account is needed, and a card is not. On the sign-in page you enter your email address and Link Signals emails you a code, so there is no password to remember. The free plan reads up to 100 pages and checks up to 50 links per scan, with the same evidence and the same checks as the paid plans.

A plan decides how much of a large site is read, not how much of what is found is shown. If your sitemap is bigger than your plan reads, a sample spread across the whole site is read instead, and everything found in those pages is shown in full. See choosing the right plan.

Is the free plan a time-limited trial?
The free plan has no end date. The monitoring trial is separate and lasts 7 days, after which its checks stop and nothing is charged.
Is the free scan a lighter version of the checks?
No. The same blocklists, domain checks and page analysis are used. Only the number of pages read and links checked differs by plan.
How do I sign in again later?
Enter the same email address on the sign-in page and a new code is emailed to you. No password is stored.
