Who we are
Link Signals is a product of Cultured Digital Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 11729823. For the personal data described here, Cultured Digital Ltd is the data controller. You can contact us at hello@linksignals.cloud.
What we collect
| What | Why we have it | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, plan, usage counts and the date you joined | To create your account, sign you in, and apply your plan’s limits. | You, when you sign in. |
| The sitemap addresses you scan, the number of pages and links checked, and the flagged findings: destination addresses, verdicts, link text, and the titles and descriptions of pages we fetched | To run your scans and to keep your scan history and reports. | You, and the public web pages you ask us to scan. |
| For a site you monitor: the sitemap address and schedule, a record of the pages and links found (short fingerprints of their addresses, each page’s sitemap date and the time it was last read), and the verdict and details for each destination link | To re-check the site on a schedule, skip pages that have not changed, and tell you what is new. | You, and the public web pages you ask us to monitor. |
| A customer reference, your plan and subscription status | To take payment and manage your subscription. Card details are handled by our payment provider, and we never see or store your card number. | You and our payment provider, if you subscribe to a paid plan. |
| Your IP address and browser details in server logs | To keep the service secure and limit abuse. | Your browser. |
| Feedback you send from your account (the type, a title, your details and the page you were on), and your votes on the roadmap | To read and act on your feedback, tell you when something you suggested ships, and decide what to build. | You. |
| Which findings you mark reviewed or resolved, your chosen priority order, and any share links you create | To check reviewed links again on the next scan, show your findings in your order, and let you share a report. | You. |
| The registration dates and security certificate of the site you scan, and how it serves HTTPS | To warn you before your own domain or certificate runs out. | Public registry records, and the site itself. |
| Messages you send us | To reply to you. | You. |
Share links. If you create a link to a report, anyone who has the link can read that one report without signing in: its findings, destination addresses and the pages they were found on. The link is long and random, search engines are asked not to index it, and you can turn it off at any time.
The public roadmap. What we publish is a title and a summary that we write. We never publish what you typed, your email address, or the address of your site. Votes are shown only as a count.
We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell personal data.
Why we are allowed to use it
| What we do | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Provide your account and run your scans | Contract: we need it to deliver the service you asked for. |
| Monitor your sites and email you alerts and summaries about them | Contract: it is the service you set up. You can turn the emails off for each site. |
| Take payment and keep accounting records | Contract, and legal obligation to keep financial records. |
| Keep the service secure and prevent abuse | Legitimate interests: protecting the service and its users. |
| Read your feedback, count votes, and email you when something you suggested ships | Legitimate interests: improving the service for the people who use it. |
| Show a report to someone you share it with | Contract: you asked us to. |
| Reply to your messages | Contract, or legitimate interests in answering you. |
Who else handles your data
We use the following providers to run the service. Each handles personal data only on our instructions.
| Provider | What they do | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Database and sign-in provider | Stores your account and saved scans, and handles sign-in. | Your account and your saved scans. |
| Email delivery provider | Sends your sign-in emails, the email when a scan finishes, monitoring alerts and summaries if you use monitoring, and a note when something you suggested ships. | Your email address and the message. |
| UK hosting provider | Hosts the server that runs the site. | Everything the server handles. |
| AI analysis provider | Provides the AI that helps judge each link. | The address, title and a short excerpt of the pages being judged, and the page they were linked from. Not your email address or account details. |
| Payment provider | Takes payments, if you subscribe. | Your payment details and email. |
Our AI provider supplies its service on commercial terms, which say that content sent through it is not used to train its models by default. We may also share data where the law requires it, or with professional advisers under a duty of confidence. If you would like the names of the providers we use, ask us and we will tell you.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards they offer for UK data, such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or the UK–US data bridge.
How long we keep it
- Your account and saved scans: for as long as your account is open, and until you ask us to delete them.
- Monitoring records for a site: until you remove that site or close your account. Removing a site deletes its stored page and link record. Reports already saved in your scan history are kept as described above.
- What you mark reviewed or resolved, and your priority order: for as long as your account is open.
- Share links: until you turn them off or close your account.
- Feedback: for as long as it helps us improve the service, or until you ask us to delete it. Votes: until you take them back or close your account.
- Payment and accounting records: for six years, as UK tax law requires.
- Server logs: in short, rolling files that are overwritten as they fill.
- Messages you send us: for as long as needed to deal with them, and a reasonable time after.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these, email hello@linksignals.cloud. We aim to reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Cookies and local storage
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, which are set by our sign-in provider. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss. While a scan is still running, a finding you mark as reviewed is remembered in your own browser’s local storage on your device. On a finished report, the mark is saved to your account instead, so the next scan can check the link again.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the database is restricted by account, and the secret keys that run the service are kept on the server and never sent to your browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Children
Link Signals is a business tool and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell account holders by email.
