Exporting a Link Signals report to CSV

The CSV export puts every finding into a spreadsheet for a client report, a fix list or an audit trail. This guide explains each column.

How to export

Open a scan from History, or while it is still running, and choose CSV at the top right of the table. The file contains the results of that scan.

The columns

ColumnWhat it holds
urlThe destination address.
verdictOne of unsafe, review, error, broken, unreachable, blocked (shown as Couldn’t check) or safe.
http_statusThe HTTP status code, when the destination responded.
categoriesThe categories it matched, separated by |.
confidenceblocklist, ai or keyword.
contextunrelated or related to the page that links to it, when known.
hiddenyes when the link is hidden with inline styles.
concealedHow a link is kept from view in other ways: shown only to search engines, shown only to visitors from search, or hidden in encoded script. Empty otherwise.
relfollowed, or the rel markers on the link: nofollow, sponsored, ugc.
domain_signalA problem with the destination’s domain: domain not registered, domain expired, parked or for sale or newly registered domain. Empty otherwise.
registeredThe domain’s registration date, when the registry gave one.
triggersThe words or list that caused the flag, separated by |.
reasonThe explanation shown in the report.
titleThe destination page’s title.
descriptionThe destination’s meta description.
anchorThe visible text of the link.
found_onThe address of the page the link was first found on.
source_titleThe title of that page.
url,verdict,http_status,categories,confidence,context,hidden,triggers,reason,...
https://bonus-spins-24.example/promo,unsafe,200,gambling,blocklist,unrelated,,blocklist:gambling,"Out of context: ...",...
The first two lines of an export, shortened.

Details worth knowing

  • All the saved findings are exported, not just what is on screen. A filter or a priority tab changes the table you see, but the file holds every finding saved for the scan.
  • The file name is `link-signals-` followed by the first eight characters of the scan’s ID, and .csv, so exports from different scans do not overwrite each other.
  • Every value is quoted, so commas and line breaks inside a reason or a title stay within their cell.
  • Reviewed marks and ignores are not in the file. Those live in the report. If you need a record of what was dealt with, export after you have re-checked so the file shows what is still flagged.
  • A saved report keeps up to 500 flagged findings. The export cannot hold more than the report does.

Working with the file

Open it in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, turn on filters for the header row, and widen the reason and found_on columns. These are the columns people use most:

To answerDo this
Which pages do I need to edit?Sort by found_on. Every row on the same page is a link to change in one visit.
What is urgent?Filter verdict to unsafe, then look at hidden, concealed and domain_signal for the links most likely to be injected or taken over.
Which links are still passing credit?Filter rel to followed. See which rel a link should have.
How many of each kind?Count the values in categories. A cell can hold several, separated by |.
Which are only a keyword match?Filter confidence to keyword. These are the weakest evidence and the most likely to be false positives.

A worked example

An agency finishes a scan for a client and exports the file. In the spreadsheet it sorts by found_on, deletes the columns the client does not need, and adds one called Action with “remove”, “replace” or “leave”. The client’s editor works down the list page by page. Once the changes are made, the agency runs a re-check and exports again, so that the second file shows only what is left.

When the client would rather not receive a file at all, a shared report link shows the same findings in a readable page, and can be switched off afterwards.

Questions

Why are clean links not in the file?

They are counted, not stored. The report keeps the findings that need attention, and the export matches it.

Can I export a monitoring check?

Yes, from its report in History. The file holds the findings saved for that check.

Can I export only the rows I have filtered?

Not directly. Export the whole file and apply the same filter in the spreadsheet.
