FAQ

What happens to my data?

Link Signals stores your scans, monitoring records and choices so the service can work. Removing a site deletes its stored record, and you can ask for anything else to be deleted.

Updated 13 October 2026By Dean Cruddace, Founder, Link Signals

Link Signals keeps your account, your saved scans and what you have marked or chosen for as long as your account is open, and deletes them when you ask. Removing a monitored site deletes the stored record of its pages and links, while reports already in your history stay there. The privacy notice is the full statement.

Common questions about removing and ignoring

  • If you remove a site: the stored record of its pages and links is deleted. Reports already saved in your history stay.
  • Who can see what you ignored: anyone who can sign in to your account. It is not shown to other users.
  • If you delete a link that was ignored: the ignore is forgotten. If the same link is added again, it is judged afresh.
  • Whether two sites are combined: no. Each site is kept separate by its address, so a staging site and the live site have their own histories.

What is shared, and with whom

Link Signals uses a small set of providers for the database and sign-in, email, UK hosting, AI analysis and payments. The AI provider sees the address, title and a short excerpt of the pages being judged, and the page they were linked from. It does not see your email address or account details. There are no advertising or analytics trackers, and personal data is not sold.

A share link lets anyone who has it read that one report until you turn it off. The public roadmap shows only a title and summary written by Link Signals, never your words, your email address or your site.

Where to read more

  • Privacy notice: the full list of data, providers, retention and your rights, including how to ask for a copy or deletion.
  • Terms: the rules that apply to using the service and to share links.
  • Ignore a finding: what ignoring does and when it comes back.
  • Make a complaint to the ICO: the UK regulator, if you are unhappy with how data has been handled and have raised it first.

Questions

Does Link Signals read private parts of my site?

No. It reads your public sitemap and public pages, the way a search engine does. Nothing is installed on your site and no login is shared.

Do I need to accept cookies?

Only the cookies that keep you signed in are used, and there is no cookie banner. While a scan is running, a review mark is held in your browser, and on a finished report it is saved to your account.

How do I ask for my data to be deleted?

Email the address given in the privacy notice. Link Signals aims to reply within one month and will delete your account and saved scans on request.
